Converge

Converge were amazing at the Underworld, no matter how many times I see them, I'm still gobsmacked as to how tight they are, its ridiculous.

I got Roman Laris's book the other day at the Dome show (which was amazing, bring back Dome shows on a Saturday), check it out, buy it, its awesome!

Its my birthday next week, the funeral the same day, good times...

Ronnie

So when I was really young and spent most of my days outside in the garden, there was a guy that used to come to our house to do gardening. His name was Ronnie. He was a friend of a friend of my Mum's I think, but either way, he was always at our house. As I said, he was a gardener by trade, but most of the time he just came to our house and just talked and drank tea etc. He didn't have any relatives left, no parents as he was old, no brothers, no sisters, nothing, so was a very lonely man. My Mum, much like me, is a worrier, so always made him welcome here.
He was really good friend to me growing up, which is important at that age. He was someone to rely on, someone to talk to, always letting me help him garden, or build something. My Mum said earlier on this evening, "he thought the world of you".
Over the years our family lost contact with him, I don't know why, I think he had a falling out with my Mum over something stupid and they never made it up, but I can't be sure.
Three Years ago my Mum got a call on her mobile from Ronnie saying he was dying. He had no-one to call except my Mum, he didn't know what to do. We rent to his flat where he lived alone in South Croydon, to find him barely able to breathe and in a total state of confusion. I can't be 100% sure he recognised me/knew who I was, but I'm pretty sure he did. It was terrible to see him like that, I can't believe it got to such a stage without anyone helping. He was taken into care shortly after.
He passed away today, aged 80.
This news has really upset me, I hope he didn't have a bad time in care, and I hope the last 3 years he spent were happier than when he lived alone.
The funeral will probably be next week, i'll go and pay my respects to someone who made me very happy in my early years.

To Ronnie, Rest In Peace.

eBay

This went on eBay. I have one in mint condition at my house.
If I sell it and get £200, i'll just spend it on petrol and food and crap, and have nothig to show for it.
Its so nice, I pretty much have to keep it...

Epic

Fail, I didn't get the job, the interview actually went really well, I prefer one on one interviews, when theres more and one person I get really intimidated. Its so annoying though, total waste of time/effort and money.

I've been writing loads in E on my Telecaster recently.
Need to record some of it, that would be fun.

I've listened to 16 hours worth of Russell Brand's old podcasts, or 960 minutes if you want to look at it that way. Only another 80 odd hours to go.

Life goes on.

Confidence

The woman from the job agency gave me a call earlier and said she'd put me forward for a temp job in Angel. She rang back a couple of hours later to say the place liked my CV and asked me to come for an interview at 11am tomorrow, which is today as I'm writing this.
On the phone, the agency woman said to me make sure you are confident in the interview, shake the guys hand firmly, look him in the eye, speak loud and clearly etc.
It got me thinking, I just can't do any of that, I can't be loud and confident and walk into a room and be like "HI, MY NAMES ANTHONY, HOWS EVERYONE DOING HERE!?".
There are some people that are like that naturally, they can just talk like water from a tap on demand. I always try and do it, and I just end up feeling stupid and go even quieter than before.
People sometimes perceive me as moody and quiet, I'm really not, I just like hearing people talk, and often don't have a relevant point to interject on.
Ah well, what a goth, hope the interview goes well, I could be starting Monday!
